Mahalo nui loa to everyone who took the time to complete my pre-session survey. Your voices matter, and I’m grateful so many of you shared your priorities, concerns, and hopes for our community.
Inside this newsletter, you’ll find the survey results—what rose to the top as the issues that matter most to our district. You’ll also see my bill package for this legislative session.
Your input isn’t just collected and filed away. It’s guiding my votes and my voice at the Capitol every single day. When I stand on the House floor or sit in committee hearings, I’m carrying your mana’o with me.
This is your government working for you.
With deep appreciation,
Joe Gedeon
Pre-Session Survey
Mahalo to everyone who filled out my pre-session survey.
When asked which areas residents would support seeing more funding for—even if it meant increased taxes or fees—Public Safety topped the list with 144 responses, followed closely by Road Maintenance at 139. Public Schools and the Environment also ranked high with 107 and 93 responses respectively.
These clear priorities are guiding my decisions at the Capitol this session, particularly as I evaluate bills related to infrastructure investment, public safety funding, and environmental protection. Your willingness to invest in these core community needs tells me Hawai’i Kai values practical solutions that protect what matters most.
What's Happening Hawai'i Kai
Koko Villas Phase II: A new development has been proposed in the area near Koko Crater and the existing Koko Villas neighborhood. This new development would add 34 two-story single family homes to the area along Kokonani Street. This project is currently in the very early stages, so that means there’s time to voice your opinion on it. Scan the code to fill out the survey or go to RepGedeon.com
Mariner's Ridge Construction: We’ve heard from residents about ongoing construction and deteriorating road conditions in Mariner’s Ridge, including sinkage concerns and disruptive closures. We understand how frustrating this is for the community. Our office has reached out to the appropriate departments to get answers on the cause, current safety issues, and repair timelines. We’ll continue following up and will keep you informed as we learn more.
With aloha,
Rep. Joe Gedeon
